The main purpose of this study was to identify the components of organizational citizenship behavior based on employees’ mental models in Iran Air (the Islamic Republic of Iran Airline). The present research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of data collection method. A combination of library, interview, and survey methods was employed. In the library method, the concepts and definitions of the research variables, subject literature, and previous studies were reviewed. Ultimately, the required information was collected through interviews in a focus group and surveys. The research was conducted qualitatively and in an exploratory manner. The study population consisted of the managers of Iran Air. In this study, the opinions of 15 experts and managers were utilized based on the mentioned characteristics. One of the common methods in qualitative data analysis, thematic analysis, was applied using MAXQDA software. The study sought to develop a model of organizational citizenship behavior based on employees’ mental models in Iran Air. According to the thematic analysis, 112 initial codes, 24 first-level themes, and 4 second-level themes were identified. The recognized themes include individual factors, organizational factors, environmental factors, and process-related factors. The results revealed that organizational citizenship behavior in this organization is influenced by four major categories of factors: individual, organizational, environmental, and process-related. These factors directly and indirectly affect the quality of employees’ behavior and their participation in achieving organizational goals. The identification and analysis of 112 initial codes to reach the first- and second-level themes indicate the depth and accuracy of the research in extracting an appropriate conceptual model for this organization.
