Abstract

Sustainable development literacy has become a cornerstone of 21st-century education. This qualitative study aimed to identify school-based strategies for enhancing sustainable development literacy in lower secondary education. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 24 participants, including school principals, teachers, and environmental education experts from Tehran. Data were analyzed through thematic coding using NVivo software. The results indicated four main categories of strategies: integrating environmental education into classroom activities, encouraging student participation in school projects, fostering a green school culture, and establishing active connections with local communities. These strategies highlight the pivotal role of schools in advancing sustainability education.
