In the context of globalization, educating global citizens has emerged as a fundamental goal of educational systems. This qualitative study aimed to identify the dimensions of global citizenship education within Iran’s formal education system, using content-oriented thematic analysis. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with 25 experts in cultural studies, curriculum planners, and educational science professors. The findings identified five key dimensions: development of intercultural identity, promotion of global responsibility, peace and tolerance education, fostering critical perspectives on global issues, and enhancing cultural empathy. These findings can inform the development of global citizenship-based curricula in Iran.
